Brillante choice

7-30-14 10-12-50 AM

Yes… today I choose Dedar Milano fabrics for their refined elegance and great quality which I always loved. Founded in 1976 as a small family business it is today present in more than 70 countries around the world.

They are known for their creativity, attention to details, experimentation with precious silks, wools, damasks, and a large variety of colors.

And I am particularly happy when I can visit their showroom in the heart of Brera area. Here are some examples of gorgeous textiles, some for upholstery, some for draperies.

Silkyway: a luminous iridescent jacquard. The motif of oriental inspiration has the characteristically blurred contours of an ikat fabric.

avalon

Avalon is a large floral motif embroidered on a silk ground with metallic threads.

Love is an elegant, dynamic geometric pattern.

Fanfara is hand-woven raw silk, a triumph of shimmering color and luminosity with a palette of 33 colors.

More on Dedar

Browsing their website I have also found that my favorite movie of the year “La Grande Bellezza” had a contribution by Dedar Milano!

If this was not enough: the Company has also created a special collection for Hermès and guess what…my favorite jewelry is Pomellato, also  based in Milan (I have written a few times about them)…and they use Dedar textiles from that collection for some of their showrooms and windows.

Amour Libre, Coco and Jim from Dedar Hermès collection.

What can I say? Pure coincidence that I love Dedar textiles, La Grande Bellezza movie, Pomellato jewelry and they are all linked together in some way?

Visionnaire…a wonderful story…

le-charme-des-poutres-apparentes-1_4815322

Have you ever heard of Visionnaire? It is a concept store and design gallery which, as on the first page on their website, represents “A wonderful story in the heart of Milan”. The  company, funded in 1959 is based in Bologna, a beautiful city not far from Milan where the first University of the western world was founded in 1088 (yes you read right… XII century)

On the hills outside Bologna there is a XVII century family home where the artistic director of this brand of luxury furniture lives with her family. The majestic staircase, the brick wall, the beams on the ceiling tell an ancient story, the contemporary furniture speak about Italian design and the philosophy of the brand.

The large living room has subtle neutral colors, with a pop of red on the ottoman. The impressive chandelier, the sofa, the bookcase are all designed for Visionnaire.

A mix of styles in the kitchen with sleek dining table, Ghost chairs and a fun interpretation of a banquette.

The kitchen opens to a sunny terrace.

In one bedroom sun and fresh air enter through large windows, an ornate chandelier contrasts with contemporary art on the wall.

A bathroom with aqua colored mosaic, a voluptuous, unexpected chandelier and a large mirror reflecting the artistic ceramics on the opposite wall.

Almost all furniture and accessories in this house were created by a team of designers expressly for Visionnaire as for this very unusual glass bookcase.

The Joy of Summer

__s1__Home__shelter_jpg_W770_H448
You have to agree with me…one of the best parts of summer is surely being able to dine al fresco surrounded by scented flowers, greenery, balmy air.  The image above presents a solution by Unopiù, with simple lines for table and chairs. Of course the magic atmosphere is created by the lights in the pool and on the trulli, a traditional Apulian dry stone huts with a conical roof.

03_b_giardino
By Ethimo a young and colorful series of tables and chairs: eggplant, bamboo, olive…

08_b_giardino
A classic Italian garden furnished by Driade, more sophisticated but with a touch of exotic atmosphere.

12_b_giardino
A beautiful sofa and chair by Gervasoni, created to be outdoor under a portico or in a veranda.  I can see these pieces of furniture also inside a country house or a seaside cottage, they look ultra comfortable and elegant.

02_b_giardino
Simple lines, light and comfortable iron chairs by Unopiù.  I love the white cushions and the low table for drinks and finger food.
So no matter if you are in a villa with pool, a cottage by the seaside, an apartment with a small patio…there are pieces of outdoor furniture waiting for you to enjoy pleasurable hours al fresco.
Don’t forget to participate to my Give-Away, clicking HERE…you could win a fantastic set of  silk pillow and silk mask perfect for travel.
